SIMPLE SHEALOE

This is my go to recipe when I'm in a hurry. It immediately relieves extremely dry skin, seals in moisture for dry hair, and provides light hold without flaking. Has a light and fluffy texture with a slight cooling effect. Add 2-3 drops of peppermint oil for a quick "pick me up" and increased cooling effect.

Ingredients needed:
2oz shea butter
1oz aloe vera gel
1/2 oz of safflower oil (or oil of your choice)
essential oil of choice

Soften shea butter using double boiler method over low to medium heat but do not melt completely. Add oil when the shea begins to soften. If you prefer to use a microwave, lower the heat setting to 60% and heat  in 30 second increments. Once the mixture is similar to softened table butter add aloe vera gel, essential oils of choice and mix with a mixer for about one minute. Makes 3 1/2 oz.

I prefer to make this in smaller batches like such when not adding addition preservatives. The aloe gel contains a small amount of preservatives to maintain the freshness of this size batch with normal use.
